2025 Event Information

The Kirra Longboard Klassic is a celebration of surfing, friendship, and fun! This unique longboard event is all about sharing the stoke, where every finalist gets a trophy, but the most coveted award is the “Surfer Having the Most Fun” – because joy is at the heart of surfing.

Our event is proudly inclusive, featuring an Adaptive Surfing division for surfers with disabilities needing assistance. We also recognize our local legends from Coomera to Pottsville and honor our heroes in the Defence Forces category. And of course, the Fancy Dress Surfing division ensures laughter and creativity take center stage, with past contestants riding waves dressed as everyone from Donald Trump to Elvis! While catching a classic Kirra barrel can be a challenge, one thing is certain – a great time is guaranteed.

What’s On in 2025?

• Waves of Expression

Kick off the 2025 Kirra Longboard Klassic with the Waves of Expression – Surf Art & Photography Exhibition from 21 July – 3 August at the Kirra Hill Community Centre. Celebrate the artistic side of surfing with a stunning showcase of surf-inspired art and photography.

• Meet & Greet 

On Friday night at Your Mates Beach Bar mingle with fellow surfers, pick up your registration packs and soak up the good vibes before the weekend’s action begins. It’s the perfect way to connect, relax, and celebrate the surfing spirit!

• Fluro Saturday

Join in with a splash of color at OneWave Fluro Saturday! It’s all about raising awareness for mental health, embracing the ocean, and brightening up the beach with vibrant outfits and positive energy.

• Competitive Surfing

You can expect a dazzling mix of classic longboarding, where surfers showcase smooth cross-stepping, hang tens, and stylish turns. Watch men and women of all ages, local legends and defence force heroes carve up the waves.

• Environmental Activation's

Join us in protecting our beautiful beaches! Special activations throughout the event will promote ocean conservation, sustainability, and community involvement.

•  Your Mates Beach Bar

The perfect spot to relax, enjoy a drink, and take in the surf action! Open from 1:00 pm on Saturday and Sunday, the bar keeps the good vibes  with buskers during the afternoons, rolling into the evening with live music and entertainment.

• Adaptive Surfing

Experience the true spirit of surfing as adaptive surfers take to the waves with the support of an incredible community and help to celebrate the skill, determination, and achievements of adaptive surfers.

• Fancy Dress Surfing

Creativity meets surfing in this crowd-favorite event! Past years have seen surfers dressed as pirates, rock stars, and even giant eggplants. Guest judges look for the best costume, the only rule is – you must successfully ride a wave to qualify!

• Presentation & Awards

Wrap up the weekend at Your Mates Beach Bar at 3:00 pm for the official awards ceremony. Alongside board giveaways and finalist trophies, we will crown the recipient of the prestigious Macca Memorial Trophy, awarded to the surfer who had the most fun!
